INTRODUCTION
The Indian Army founded the Army Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (AIHMCT) in 1996 under the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) to provide high-quality education in hospitality and foster national values. The Institute has set its beacon at imparting high-quality hotel management education required for the International Hospitality Industry. The Institute is affiliated to Bangalore North University, approved by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and NAAC accredited.
COURSE
The Army Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (AIHMCT) offers a comprehensive undergraduate program in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The program is structured in a semester mode with multiple entry and exit options. The Institute offers two-degree programs in hotel management: a three-year BMS-HM and a four-year BHM. The program is designed to provide a holistic and multidisciplinary education, allowing students to focus on major and minor subjects as per their preference. The four-year program may also lead to a degree in Research if the student completes a rigorous research project in their major area(s) of study.
The undergraduate program extends over four academic years (eight semesters), with each semester consisting of at least 16 weeks of study. Students have the flexibility to exit after the completion of one academic year (two semesters) with a Certificate, after two academic years (four semesters) with a Diploma, and after three academic years (six semesters) with a Regular Bachelor Degree. Successful completion of the four-year undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours. Students can join or rejoin only in the Odd Semester and must finish the Even Semester before leaving. Re-entry at various levels as lateral entrants in academic programs is based on the earned credits and proficiency test records.
