Why This Problem Happens So Often

Many defence pensioners submit their Digital Life Certificate successfully on the Jeevan Pramaan Portal, only to find it never actually reaches SPARSH. The certificate shows as submitted on Jeevan Pramaan, but SPARSH continues to show your identification as pending. This is one of the most common, and most avoidable, SPARSH-related problems, and it almost always traces back to a few specific settings entered incorrectly at the time of submission.

The Core Reason This Happens

Jeevan Pramaan Portal, or JPP, is a genuinely good platform to submit a Digital Life Certificate for Aadhaar-linked PPOs. But the moment you enter your mobile number on JPP, the system often auto-picks up old, previously stored values, such as an outdated PPO number or an old Pension Disbursing Agency, , from an earlier submission you may have made through your bank before migrating to SPARSH. If your certificate is not submitted as a fresh, new pensioner entry, these old values get attached to your new certificate, and it cannot be exported into SPARSH correctly.

The Fix: Always Submit as a New Pensioner

The single most important step is to submit your Digital Life Certificate on Jeevan Pramaan as a New Pensioner, even if you have submitted a life certificate through JPP before. This forces the system to take fresh values instead of pulling old, mismatched data linked to your mobile number from a previous submission.

The Exact Dropdown Values You Must Select

Beyond marking yourself as a New Pensioner, four specific dropdown fields on Jeevan Pramaan must be set correctly for your certificate to export into SPARSH. Getting even one of these wrong is enough to break the export, even if everything else is correct.

Category: Central Govt

In the Category dropdown, select Central Govt. This tells the system your pension falls under a central government pension authority rather than a state or other category, which is a prerequisite for the SPARSH-linked options to appear correctly in the following fields.

Pension Sanctioning Authority: Defence-PCDA(P) Allahabad

In the Pension Sanctioning Authority field, select Defence-PCDA(P) Allahabad specifically. This identifies PCDA(P) Prayagraj, formerly known as Allahabad, as the authority that sanctioned your pension, matching the authority SPARSH itself expects to see linked to your PPO.

Pension Disbursing Agency: SPARSH-PCDA(P) Allahabad

In the Pension Disbursing Agency field, select SPARSH-PCDA(P) Allahabad. If this specific option does not appear in your dropdown list at all, this usually means the Jeevan Pramaan application on your device is outdated. In that case, ask the CSC operator or whoever is assisting you to remove the application and reinstall it fresh, after which the SPARSH-linked option should appear.

PPO Number: Only the 12-Digit ePPO or SPARSH PPO

In the PPO Number field, enter only your 12-digit ePPO number or your SPARSH PPO number. Do not enter your old bank-era PPO number if it is in a different format. If you do not have your ePPO or SPARSH PPO number handy, you can look it up using the Migration into SPARSH tab on the PCDA(P) portal at pcdapension.nic.in. Searching by your Regimental Number is a convenient option there, but remember to add a leading zero if your Army number is only seven digits.

An Easier Alternative: The Mobile App With Face Authentication

If arranging a biometric fingerprint or iris scanner device feels like a hurdle, there is a simpler route. Download and install the Jeevan Pramaan mobile app, which supports face recognition authentication of your Aadhaar instead of a physical biometric device. This lets you complete your Digital Life Certificate at home using just your phone’s camera, without any separate scanner hardware.

What to Do If You Already Submitted With Wrong Settings

If you realise your certificate was submitted with the wrong Pension Disbursing Agency or an old PPO number, do not assume it will eventually sync on its own, since the handbook is clear that mismatched values cannot be exported to SPARSH. Submit a fresh Digital Life Certificate on Jeevan Pramaan, explicitly as a New Pensioner, with all four settings entered correctly as described above.

Final Thoughts

A Digital Life Certificate that shows as submitted on Jeevan Pramaan but never appears in SPARSH is almost always a settings problem, not a system failure. Submitting as a New Pensioner, and getting the Category, Pension Sanctioning Authority, Pension Disbursing Agency, and PPO Number fields exactly right, resolves this in nearly every case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Why does my Jeevan Pramaan life certificate not show up in SPARSH?

Usually because the system picked up old, mismatched values, such as an outdated PPO number or Pension Disbursing Agency, linked to your mobile number from an earlier submission.

Q2: What is the single most important fix for this problem?

Always submit your Digital Life Certificate on Jeevan Pramaan as a New Pensioner, even if you have submitted through JPP before, so the system does not reuse old data.

Q3: What should I select in the Category field?

Central Govt, which is required for the correct SPARSH-linked options to appear in the following dropdown fields.

Q4: What should I select as my Pension Sanctioning Authority?

Defence-PCDA(P) Allahabad, which identifies PCDA(P) Prayagraj as your pension sanctioning authority.

Q5: What if SPARSH-PCDA(P) Allahabad does not appear in my Pension Disbursing Agency dropdown?

This usually means your Jeevan Pramaan app is outdated. Ask the operator to remove and reinstall the application, after which the correct option should appear.

Q6: What PPO number should I enter on Jeevan Pramaan?

Only your 12-digit ePPO number or your SPARSH PPO number, not an old bank-era PPO number in a different format.

Q7: Where can I find my ePPO or SPARSH PPO number if I do not have it?

On the PCDA(P) portal at pcdapension.nic.in, under the Migration into SPARSH tab. Searching by Regimental Number works, with a leading zero added for seven-digit Army numbers.

Q8: Do I need a biometric device to submit my Digital Life Certificate?

No. You can use the Jeevan Pramaan mobile app, which supports face recognition authentication of Aadhaar without any separate fingerprint or iris scanner.

Q9: I already submitted with the wrong settings. Will it fix itself over time?

No. A certificate submitted with mismatched values cannot be exported to SPARSH on its own. You need to resubmit as a New Pensioner with all settings entered correctly.
