INTRODUCTION

Army College of Dental Sciences (ACDS) is a dental college located in Secunderabad, Telangana. The college was established in 2001 by the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), a non-profit organization that runs various educational institutions for Army families. The college is affiliated with Kaloji Narayan Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Vijayawada and is approved by the Dental Council of India and the Government of Maharashtra. The college offers BDS and MDS courses in various disciplines of dentistry. The college is exclusively for the children of Army personnel, Ex-Servicemen and War widows.

FACULTY

ACDS’s campus is a lush, well-kept 35-acre space that serves as a second home to over 250 students and 200 staff. It offers facilities like a gym, library, cafeteria, sports fields, temple, auditorium, and garden, all within walking distance from the student quarters. The hostels, separate for boys and girls, are spacious, secure, and well-maintained. They provide meals and recreational rooms for indoor games like carrom, chess, and badminton.

ACADEMICS

The college has a good academic record and reputation, as evident from the results and placements of the students. The college has a student intake of 40 seats for BDS and 15 seats for MDS. The admission to the college is based on the marks obtained in NEET UG and NEET PG, respectively. OVERVIEW ACDS

ARMY COLLEGE OF DENTAL SCIENCES: AN OVERVIEW
EligibilityThe candidate must be a child of an army personnel, Ex-Servicemen or war widows. The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The candidate must also be below 23 years of age as of 31 December of the year of admission.
Affiliation The college is affiliated to Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNR UHS), Warangal (Telangana) and is approved by the Dental Council of India and the Government of Maharashtra.
SeatsThe college has a student intake of 40 seats for BDS and 15 seats for MDS. Out of these, 34 seats for BDS and 15 seats for MDS are filled through NEET UG and NEET PG respectively. The remaining 6 seats for BDS are filled based on TS EAMCET by Kaloji University.
Admission ProcedureThe Admission to the college is based on the merit list prepared by the college based on the respective entrance exam scores. The candidates have to apply for the entrance exam and the college separately. The college verifies the eligibility criteria and documents of the candidates before granting admission.
Entrance ExamFor BDS, the candidates have to appear for NEET UG or TS EAMCET. For MDS, the candidates have to appear for NEET PG. The entrance exams are conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra respectively. The entrance exams are usually held in May and June every year.
FeeThe fee for the college is Rs. 4,00,000 per annum for BDS and Rs. 6,50,000 per annum for MDS. The fee includes tuition fee, hostel fee, mess fee and other charges. The fee is subject to revision by the college authorities.
Courses and DurationThe college offers BDS and MDS courses in various disciplines of dentistry. The BDS course is of four (04) years duration with one year of compulsory rotatory internship. The MDS course is of three (03) years duration. The courses cover subjects such as oral medicine, oral surgery, prosthodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, conservative dentistry, endodontics, pedodontics, oral pathology, public health dentistry, etc. The courses also include practical training, research projects and co-curricular activities.
