The goal of STEAG is to bring together the Army, Industry, And Academic Experts to develop our high-tech communication systems. This move is in line with the Army’s aim to get new technologies to improve how we fight wars nowadays.
Why STEAG ?
STEAG will be like a top-notch organization, the first of its kind, capable of using the latest technology and finding ways to use it for Defence purposes by working closely with universities and companies, said one official.
STEAG’s main job is to look into wired and wireless communication systems, including things like mobile phones, software-defined radios, and electronic warfare equipment. Indian Army officials stress how important STEAG is for finding cutting-edge solutions and teaming up with others to figure out how to use them for Defence.
The special unit will focus on upcoming technologies like electronic exchanges, mobile communications, software-defined radios, electronic warfare systems, 5G and 6G networks, quantum tech, AI, and machine learning, said the official.
STEAG will do things like checking out new technology, testing it, developing it further, and managing the important information and communication technology (ICT) solutions. They’ll also help soldiers use these technologies effectively by maintaining and upgrading what we have now, the official added.
